Good scene or bad scene? - 3/9/2008
What do you see going on in this x-ray?

Moderators Response:
This patient has multiple metacarpal shaft fracture which are plated and screwed. Or they were at one point. The index finger plate is breaking and the midldle finger plate has broken. This is a result of moving too much early after stabilization has occurred.

Very bad seen. 3rd metacarpal plate is broken. Proximal phalanx also appears to be deviating ulnarly as well due to the poor reduction. The 2nd metacarpal also does not look right. Fracture does not look reduced completely.

Needs to go back to the/another MD! Second metacarple has a questionable reduction, third...is the plate fractured...forth is fair but has screw into the third? at base...fith has a gap in bone? There are wirst issues also. Was there additional trama after inital repair or just poor attempt.
